No they are not. I believe the majority of them are hoaxes but a lot of them are just simply unexplainable. Maybe we aren't alone in the universe after all.
I don't think all of them are hoaxes. Many are probably cases of mistaken identity. I do agree that many unusual things currently have no good explanation, just like how many cases go unsolved. However, a lack of proof is not evidence for little green men.
Dr. Carl Sagan once said that he honestly believes that if a civilization possessed the technology to fly billions of light years across space to find us here on planet Earth they would not sneak around us since we would not have any technology better than theirs, they would just drop out of the sky and say "Hi there! We are from planet XYZ and we have come to visit!" or something like that. I tend to agree with him.
People who are eyewitnesses have a tendency to be confused by something that they just do not comprehend. Take traffic accident eyewitnesses for instance. However many eyewitnesses you have at a traffic accident scene is how many different versions of that accident you have. Why? How many of us really expect to actually see a traffic accident in our lifetimes? To be honest, none of us do, so when it does happen right before our eyes, we have a hard time comprehending what it was that we saw. In all my time in law enforcement I never once witnessed a traffic accident, not until I had been retired many years. Then my wife was with me and she says to this day that she saw something entirely different than I did. I do not dispute her perception of that traffic accident for obvious reasons – I have to live with her.
The difference in what we perceive and what is actual is sometimes radically very different.
UFO's are just that. A flying object that we as individuals simply cannot identify.
