Are there problems with Obama’s counter-terrorism plan?

Here are the five major principles of President Obama’s counter-terrorism plan:
1. Counter-terrorism is no longer the main characteristic of U.S. Foreign Policy.
2. Paradigm is longer GWOT.
3. Recognize upstream factors that may lead to terrorism, such as poverty and illiteracy.
4. Political, economic, and social campaigns to meet the basic needs and grievances of ordinary people.
5. Integrate all elements of U.S. powers to address these upstream factors.
Are there problems with Obama’s counter-terrorism plan?

Obama set forth here some good ideas. However, there are not too realistic. The main problem is first of all, the Guantanamo detention center. He knows that there is no way he can let those prisoners go now since the majority of them are preventive detainees.
As we have been seeing, he is simply delaying the closing down of the prison because it will not be possible. As a candidate, Obama was against Bush's novelties, however as President, he has continued to send missiles on FATA in Pakistan, another major issue.
I wasn't aware that he had a cogent plan.
What?
That isn't a plan. Those are statements of his belief system.
Terrorism experts all over the world have said that poverty has nothing to do with terrorism.
Personally, I am not sure that I totally agree with that, but the data shows that the people who commit acts of terrorism generally come from middle class families.
Oh yes there is! Many problems!
First of all he says that we are no longer fighting a war against terrorists . . . Well, I don't think that the terrorists agree with that statement.
In a nutshell – Islam looks at his "apologetic tour" as a definite sign of weakness, which it is. Islam will never waver from its goal of killing all infidels no matter how many times BHO kisses arab butts or apologizes for whatever.
You can choose to ignore the truth – just like BHO and his cronies – or you can accept the fact that we – meaning the civilized world – have no choice but to eliminate all of Islam or they will eliminate all of us.
Just my not-so-humble opinion.
Data also shows that one of the main reasons of terrorist attacks (most often suicide bombings) are done due to military occupation of their territory.
For every 150,000 U.S. troops put into Iraq, suicide bombings have doubled.
Don't you understand that a lot of this is not even religiously motivated? Its all because of our military occupation of the territory.
How then would you explain 9/11, or the London bombings. We were not in Afghanistan before then. That is an excuse that people use.
OBL rarely spoke about Palenstine before 9/11. His views were formetted for reasons that have very little to do with our actions. Granted some of our actions have not helped but they are not the reason. The pyschology of terrorism goes much deeper.
There were American troops in the Arabian Peninsula starting in the 90s, a major area of mobilization for Osama Bin Laden and al Qaeda.
I don't even know why he is shutting down Guantanamo bay. It's not like their life is so hard. They are treated okay there. Who cares what other nations think of us? What are they going to do?
He's been way too lenient. That's why I don't like it and I liked the wiretapping to begin with.
Well Guantanomo won't shut down, but its a known fact there has been excessive torture going on there so it is pretty bad.
It is shutting down. Obama put in the order and it will be shut down by the end of the year.

Good. If they want to harm other human beings, they don't deserve to be treated as one.
He will keep delaying it, I promise you.
The problem in releasing them is that almost all of them were imprisoned on no specific grounds.
Probably will set up a detention center in the United States somewhere.
Sal. I recomend the book Infidel by Ayaan Hirsi Ali. I am not a believer in any theological belief system myself, but Islam is by its very nature evil and hateful.
Ok that may be your opinion and I am not saying anything different, all I am saying is that is not the reason behind suicide bombings.
No they wouldn't want those guys anywhere near the U.S.
If I really honestly believed that killing myself would bring me eternal paradise, I'd kill myself right now. You can't seriously believe that doesn't factor in when it comes to convincing people to blow themselves up.

You are wrong!
i agree with papadawg, this is religious. the whole coreane is military based
Yes, the problem with his terrorists plan is that the real terrorists are working behind the scenes and we have to expose them.

^ Two blog posts I posted/did on this subject. (The second is not mine; it was done by a Facebook friend)
By saying that the terrorists are motivated ONLY by religion is inaccurate. They are not merely irrational automatons who just hate us for some obscure reason, most of them have concrete reasons. Yes, some of them may be partly motivated by religion, but saying they are merely after us because of that one thing is, at the root, silly and pretty simplistic.
