Yes, I think we are taking some steps, and will get there eventually.
No we are screwed. Do we have any alternate resources yet?
Take a good look around you.
Literally everything you touch in your home has some derivative of oil in its manufacture.
Everything.
Like it or not, we will never be oil free.
We have never been oil free.
Ever.
Now you know the truth.
Get used to it.
Just my not-so-humble opinion.
Dude why are you so angry? And what is your point anyway?
Why am I so angry? Try listening for the last 50 years to the environmentalist whackos hysterical screams that the sky is falling and we're all going to die if we don't stop using oil! That's why I am so angry!
1) The sky is NOT falling because we use oil! We have been using oil ever since we learned how to make fire several hundred thousand years ago and the sky has yet to fall!
2) Alternative energy sources are way too difficult and costly to mass produce at this point in time.
3) All these idiots who refuse to listen to reason are doing nothing but destroying Human habitation for absolutely nothing. Case in point – In the central valley of California the farmers are being denied water because some idiots think that a minnow in the Sacramento Delta will not have enough water to breed in if they do. If that is the case, then why haven't these idiots reduced the amount of water being drawn from the Delta and sent to the city of Los Angeles? That water travels through the same canal that the farmers get their water from so the only difference is that L.A. is getting more water and the cost of produce that you and I purchase from the markets nationwide have now doubled in price because we now have to import our produce from south America.
Why am I so angry?
I am so angry because all of you uneducated idiots fail to see how you are being played for the stupid idiotical suckers that you are by our politicians who are receiving kickbacks from the importers, THAT'S WHY I AM SO ANGRY!
I only have one question for you . . . Why aren't you angry????!
Yea. They say 30 years from now, there will be no more oil, so I guess we are in for a big reality check. To think that this all began because Rockefeller was so greedy and wanted a monopoly so he had alcohol banned in order to get Ford's new Model T to be running on oil. That's when it all began.
At least people are becoming aware of it suddenly, and hybrid cars and stuff are becoming more popular.
Jared, for someone so intelligent you seem to make such uneducated statements. I urge you to Google oil fields and see where most of the Earth's oil deposits actually are. You will find out that it is actually all about greed, but you will be surprised as to who the greedy people really are – be prepared to find out who has been lying to you all these years.
Eventually as research progresses on different power sources, we will eventually find a power source that will be much more economical than carbon fuels (the myth that oil is fossil fuels is one of the great lies being put forth). If you are still in college, check with one of the science professors and find out just what crude oil is made from. Hint; Carbon is one of the most prolific and important building blocks of nature.
Learn, young man, learn!
Yea, but there are rising corporations that make profits off of non-oil energy sources.
You saying they are going to control them?
As the years go by, our need for oil is slowly decreasing, and theres always that one milestone that is in the way of us becoming an oil free planet. I do believe that theres something going on between the oil companies and car companies though, a conspiracy of some sort. The oil companies have a contract with the car companies or they own a big chunck of the car companies and wont let them work on alternative fuel vehichles. But thats just my assumption! Who knows.
"Our need for oil is slowly decreasing"? …. maybe our relative share of demand for oil has decreased, but this is only because newer developing economies now demand more oil. Even the absolute demand for oil within the US has increased over time as population and infrastructure have supported more energy consumption generally and more oil has been needed.
There was a school built that has a self sustaining energy grid. It uses solar power and wind energy. A city that will only have clean energy such as water current, solar power and wind energy is being planned. Hybrid cars have been introduced and more people are starting to buy them, even though it takes oil to create electricity they arent using Gas from gas stations.
