Probability states that in an infinitely large universe with an infinite number of stars there must be an infinite number of planets. Therefore SOME of those planets must be at the right distance from their star, have devoloped an atmosphere capable of supporting life, etc. etc. The probability of extra-terrestrial life in our universe is pretty high. However, the probability that we have been visited previously is pretty low.
Take into account that currently if you could travel AT the speed of light it would take you 4 years to reach our nearest star neighbor (Alpha Proxima). Good work getting there… but there is nothing to see… The nearest "Erath0like" celestial body, in the right heat band, with apparently liquid water, and an oxygen atmosphere is over 480 light years away…. Noone is getting there any time soon, or coming here from there.
