Where did this come from?
From September 11th, 2001.
The day that Islam showed its ugly cult face!
I will never forget, nor will I forget who is ultimately responsible for that day.
ALL of Islam.
No, actually, who was responsible was a relatively small splinter group that adhered to the Wahabbi branch of Sunni Islam, which is far from "all of Islam."
I think this question is a little strange…^.^
No, I mean, where did the idea that people, specifically "Americans", somehow have forgotten about it?
Also, a follow up question: what exactly did we forget about it if anything at all?
I think you could answer affirmatively that we have forgotten something, but it's not the "fear" or the sense of "national rage" that people like you express as something we need to keep vigilant over and ever present in our minds.
So long as so many people are so proactive as to take the time to try to remind us that we should be afraid of something or angry at something (without properly identifying the source of either fear or rage), that memory won't be going anywhere. I haven't seen very many engines of thought and mainstream opinion trying to get us to stop being afraid or angry, therefore, people have not forgotten about it.
Perhaps then you did not see the worldwide celebration that occurred that day in all countries that had Islamic cults(I refuse to call it a religion) established in them. Islamic's all over the world were dancing in the streets. THAT was representative of ALL of Islam!
Perhaps you did not see the prayers and mourning that also went into effect or the condemnations issued by Muslim state leaders.
"The Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) grouping 57 Muslim states condemned Wednesday the previous day's attacks on the United States"
"Iranian President Mohammad Khatami condemned what he said was the wave of "terrorist" attacks and expressed his "deep sorrow and sympathy with the American nation." (Iran also sent warnings of possible activity based on Taliban/Al Qaeda related assassinations in Afghanistan with their regional allies at the time).
"Egypt, President Hosni Mubarak Tuesday condemned the "attacks" and "terrorism" that struck the United States and said he was "very sad" after hearing the news. "
"In the world's most-populous Muslim nation, Indonesian President Megawati Sukarnoputri condemned the "brutal and indiscriminate" attacks in the United States and said her country would join the global battle against terrorism."
Even Hizb'allah and Arafat condemned the attacks and Hamas did not announce support (contending the proper battlefield was in Palestine, not America).
I think you are again conflating a few Palestianian teenagers and Saddam Hussein (a secularist leader of a Muslim country) as though this constitutes all of Islam.
It constitutes all of it that you know of and seem willing to acknowledge as existing.
I agree. So long as there are raging pundits on television who constantly invoke this event as justification for dastardly acts of our own, 9/11 will not be forgotten.
No, actually, I didn't, though many conservatives consistently harp on this…without ever providing any proof of said celebrations. As Sun Tzu pointed out, there were many denunciations by Muslim countries and their leaders of the terrorists in the aftermath of 9/11.
It is a fact that the men who perpetrated 9/11 adhered to a radical form of one of the most radical forms of Islam there is. They were like Wahabbis on steroids. To take them as an example of the entirety of Islam is unwise, and inaccurate. It's akin to taking the man who murdered an abortion doctor and his fellow radicals and stating "Well now I know everything I need to know about Christianity".
There was a video on Faux of some young men shooting guns in the air in Gaza/West Bank. There's a widespread contention in the Islamic world that this video was staged by CNN or western media, though I'd be willing to admit there were people who would celebrate such a thing, far removed from the calamity and atrocity itself. People have this capacity to revel in terrible things sadly.
But up until a couple years ago (ie, Obama winning the election and the surprisingly "moderate" tones of Bush going away), Faux hadn't gone so far as to take this thread of evidence as sufficing for a sweeping declaration of the general state and reaction of the Islamic world.
Could not have said it better Liberty. Agree with you totally…
Some day you will get the guts enough to pull your head out of the sand and see the reality of what is actually happening . . . . .
What does that even mean?
Merely an implication that I am missing something critical? If so. WHAT HAVE I MISSED, by your implication. Try giving me a FACT. ONE FACT.
If you're not going to do that, go back to WND with your buddies. You're not learning anything by hanging around here (because you refuse to listen to other human beings it seems) and you're not adding anything by trying to insult people who you disagree with.
How? By watching Fox News, which still perpetuates the myth that Saddam Hussein had ties to al Qaeda? Thanks, but no thanks.
And just what is actually happening?? Please tell us all….
