Absolutely not, everything the "brothers" tell you from the first day you meet them is a lie. Its all brain washing, there is no brotherhood, just a bunch of guys who talk behind each other's back and only come together to haze the pledges.
I agree with you Sal. It is all one big scam. Then, when you get in, nothing happens and all you do is send money in to the fraternity and you don't know where it even goes for.
Hey, without frats, who is going to chant "Toga-Toga-Toga" on the weekends?
And don't forget the hazing and binge drinking.

The amount of substance is heightened to such an extreme because of these greek organizations it is obscene.

I'm in one right now, yes.
well i am in a sorority and am well acquainted with the frats in our area… maybe it is different in different areas…and maybe local Greeks have more openness then national ones….but in mine and the ones i am familiar with money doesn't go for nothing and we are aware of everything… and in the end were all a closer group of ppl who can rely and depend on each other.
Most of my lifelong friends are fraternity brothers. Most of the comments on this board are either by jealous non-joiners who don't understand fraternity life or brotherhood — or fraternity guys who joined the wrong group. There are good fraternities and bad fraternities, just as there are good people and bad people.
All of the negative comments are from jealous GDI's. Sure, some chapters of weak fraternities perpetuate the stereotype, but not in my experience. It's brotherhood first, and foremost. Then, come what may, but it is ALL brotherhood that brings everything else.
