No.
How do you know that?
Prophets are how God USED to speak to man…now he speaks through His Son and we have the teachings of the Son left to us through those who were witnesses of it.
Heb 1:1 In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, 2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son,
NIV
Heb 2:3 This salvation, which was first announced by the Lord, was confirmed to us by those who heard him.
NIV
Just look at Orwell. A prophet if there ever was one.
Basic inference. Since there's no god, there cannot be a prophet.
Prophet (noun)
1. A person who speaks by divine inspiration or as the interpreter through whom the will of a god is expressed.
2. A person gifted with profound moral insight and exceptional powers of expression.
3. A predictor; a soothsayer.
4. The chief spokesperson of a movement or cause.
I believe in #2 and #4
I believe Jesus Christ did live, but I think the Bible puts a Superman costume on him. There is definitely a possibility that he did suffer on the cross, because he was a strong Catholic, but idk about the resurrection.
I believe the Bible and everything that it says.
I believe in #1, 2, and 4.
I agree.
Do Prophets exist? – I have no idea if they do or not.
Does God exist? – there is no doubt at all in my mind that God does exist.
FYI – if you don't like my opinion, you are free to believe what ever you want.
Seriously? Old and New Testament? Do you do everything it tells you to do?
I challenge all of you to prove to me and the entire Human Race beyond the shadow of a doubt that there is no God.
Don't worry, I shall not hold my breath while waiting. B)
I can't. I just know that if there is a god, then I really have no way of knowing what that god wants. A lot of people claim to speak for the divine, and a lot of different books claim to preach it. How am I or anyone else supposed to know what that God would even want? Put more simply, if there is a God, how do you tell the difference between false prophets and the real deal?
You just have to make a choice, I suppose.
Liberty, THAT is why they call it FAITH!
Ya Barbie_Sue, why is that hard to believe?
Edgar Cayce, Nostradamus, Sybilline Oracle, Jesus
These are all prophets.
I think they do. I went to a church on new years and they have a segment in the service where they give you your "word" meaning the prophet of the church tells you to some degree what plan god has for your life. I was never the one to believe in prophets but going to this church changed my whole perspective. I didn't know anyone there. No one knew who I was and they had no backround info on me whatsoever. I had been living in california and I now reside in new jersey which is where the church is. The prophet told me that I would be going back to california sometime soon and the only reason why i came to jersey was to hear that word. I didn't want to stay in jersey anyway but the point is….how did he know about my situation and everything in california if i had never met this man before in my life?
