No. I throw nothing away.
Say Jared, have you ever tried to have your computer repaired?
Unfortunately, in this modern electrical age, we toss things away rather than update or repair them. Case in point – Cellular Telephones. Mine is Verizon Wireless, new every two contract, and I am an old geezer that uses telephones to talk to other people over long distances with. In a couple of months from now, the one that I have will be considered obsolete and I will be pressured to get one of this things called "Droid" that they have run all those neat commercials for lately . . . Which really isn't a telephone at all but a hand held computer, I think. What will become of my trusty old LG EnV? It is destined for the local landfill, or something like that – I really have no idea what they will do with it.
It took a concerted search of several Verizon stores around the Las Vegas area to find a replacement battery for my phone last year – And I was pressured to just buy a new fangled whatever phone (which I successfully resisted) instead of a new battery.
My laptop, which when purchased new six years ago was VERY expensive, died and Instead of repairing it the manufacturer recommended I purchase a new VERY VERY expensive one since they no longer made the part that needed to be fixed. I purchased one from a different manufacturer that cost about a third of what my old one did and has three times the capacity of it.
Instead of simply answering your original question, I have decided to ask a question in return – What ever happened to the "small electrical appliance repairman"?
In today's world it seems the Maytag repairman has been replaced by the "Refuse Disposal Technician" . . . AKA the garbage man. :S
You can replace your EnV's battery at Radio Shack for about $14.00. They'll ship it right to your house even.
