Obviously you cannot prove this one, but there are life experiences here that I had where I can say it both worked, and did not work.
I think there's some mystery behind it.
Yeah me too.
Not really sure. If it is God's will, then why pray?
The Holy Spirit is within those who have confessed that Jesus Christ is Lord, only the Holy Spirit, who is God's Spirit, has the power to heal through us. So prayer does not necessarily heal, but, if the Lord wills it, our calling upon the Spirit of God has the ability to heal.
Concerning prayer working sometimes and not others, the Bible says that if you ask then you will receive, but if you ask and yet do not receive, then you ask amiss(out of line) and so are not granted whatever it was that you asked for.
I think if it is God's will for you to heal then he will heal you, but other times it may just be time to go be with our Father in Heaven.
