It is my not-so-humble opinion that if some dunce from the impotent DHS branch called TSA wants to get off looking at an x-ray view of this fat, wrinkly and thoroughly used up old fart body of mine, then it is their problem and not mine!
However, having said that, I would be much more supportive of those airport security measures if they actually accomplished something other than total national embarrassment. I actually believe that we could learn a thing or two from the Israeli's as far as airport security is concerned.
Too far at what?
Being an abysmal waste of time, energy, and money?
If you mean, going too far in that they're wasteful, absolutely ridiculous, and don't actually stop anybody remotely interested in blowing up a plane, then yes…
Almost but the good news is they can only go as far as they are allowed to by the passengers. A sharp decline in the number of patrons in this economy would cause pressure on the airlines to either, find other more customer friendly way to keep their passengers safe, or not have to worry about any passengers at all.
This would be true… if the government did not offer price supports and assistance to airline companies. If the cost of security was transparently paid (not just in time and harassment but in real dollars) by travelers, I think we'd see a lot fewer people flying.
