How can you rationalize eliminating an entire ethnicity because of a few bad apples. You are very wrong Jared, America is very accepting of any people (note the only way Obama is president is because of his race, he took advantage of a nation that strives to avoid being called racist). #1- Well, I disagree with the fundamental with the DHS system, so I'm probaby biased. I also think it should just get out of our lives.

#2- I think that such sentiment, whether based on the basis of race or religion, is something that will always be with us. I think the answer is every citizen mobilizing and helping their friends to see that most Muslims are just not dangerous. It's sad that many think all Muslims think like bin Laden, which is far from true.

Do you know about female genital mutilation where Muslim fathers and mothers force their little girls to have their clitoris and labia hacked off in order to honor her future husband? Do you know about "The Perfect Day"? Do you have any idea what you're calling good?

Do you have any idea how scarce these radicals are. I agree that the radicals are not good. I was explaining that the ones who work hard, contribute to society.. etc. are good people.

Some of them were also captured by forces in Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Egypt, and Turkey. Some of them were also coerced by plays on their fears to admit things that are admittedly false. Some of them are only cooks in the Taliban. Some of them were coerced into joining the Taliban due to threats on their families. Some of them are just little boys. Some of them are old men.

None of them have gotten fair trials.

Look at this way. What about the extremist Christians? What about the Inquisition? Phelps the gay-crazy pastor? The abortion doctor shootings?

But the people who practice it are not necessarily. There are many moderate Muslims, just as there are radical Muslims. There are also radical Christians. Are we going to bomb their churches just because we don't agree with them?

We should not use 'evil' to justify mindless violence. That will get us absolutely nowhere. Pusty is right. That is what provoked the mass incarceration of Japanese people after Pearl Harbor. That is what caused Hitler to kill millions of Jews, Gypsies, and Catholics during his Holocaust. That is what has provoked thousands of horrible acts over the ages. It is not something we should want to condone, accept, or perpetrate in any way.

Let the radicals be punished for what they are- the right way. Let the moderates live their lives how they wish. They have that right.

Well, as an atheist myself, I can non-hypocritically state that I judge all religions (and in fact all belief systems) by their literalists.

There's no such thing as a moderate. Moderates are just people who like to pretend that their morality comes from the same source as literalists, but don't really hold themselves to any standards. If you don't agree with the Bible, you're not a real Christian. If you don't agree with the Koran, you're not a real Muslim. This idea of 'moderates' is a myth. If those 'moderates' actually bothered to read the holy books they claim inspire their lives, they'd either have to become extremists or recant their faith. Otherwise they're just hypocrites.

Let me ask you- have you read the Koran or are you just going off what people have told you?

I myself have never read the Koran. It's on my to-do list. But let's admit it- if we take some passages in the Bible, we can say that the Bible condones violence against unbelievers. What about the passages in the OT where God talks about killing entire nations? So obviously, God thinks genocide is OK in certain circumstances.

But I'm pretty sure that neither you nor I believe that- but that does not make us un-Christian.

I actually own a paper copy of the Koran (or Qur'an, which looks so much cooler. ) and am planning on reading it soon. I want to find out for myself if the radicals are merely taking Mohammad's words out of context, or if his book actually says that. ^.^

Okay, first atheism is not the equivalent of religion atheism is the equivalent of theism. So there are secular philosophies which could be said to be like religions (examples are Marxism, Humanism, Objectivism, Skepticism) They each have their own doctrines. lumping all atheists together is like lumping together all people who believe in some form of god(s)

And yes. I do judge each secular world view by its founding documents / books. If you don't take a religion / philosophy to heart, then don't claim to be a member of it, that's disingenuous. Take the texts literally, if you don't then you're admitting that there's an external set of criteria that supersede the text as the founding principles of your world view. So any non-literalist really believes in something that they have not bothered to clearly define. That's fine if you're still searching. but if you don't know what you believe, then what right do you have to take the religion of faithful people and delude it and call yourself a Christian / Muslim / etc?

I think it should be taken on a case-by-case basis. There are radical Christians. There are radical Buddhists. There are radical Athiests. There are radical Muslims.

Let me ask you- as an athiest (sorry for assuming you were a Christian, BTW. You sounded kind of like one. *headslap*) do you judge your own sect of the population by the radicals who think religious people should be prevented from having children, and should be forced to 'acclimate' (in other words- believe what 'science' tells us) whether we want to or no?

Should I judge all athiests by that? I have heard athiests say this. They're insane. But they are no less insane than the Muslims who state that all people who do not believe Allah should be killed. Or the Christians who say abortion doctors should be slaughtered whole-sale.

That is not right ,as I am sure we can all agree. We should not judge an entire set of people just because a few take a couple commands/ideas out of context.

Even if it is in their it was in the old testament. Most people know that their is a big difference between the two testaments. Read the new testament then tell me that God wants to kill all non-believers.

How about homeland security first deals with combating Jihad extremists living in the united states not to mention the rest of the world, with a deep hatred and disdain for anything remotely western or non Muslim, ie. ATI-WESTERN sentiments. Islam is a RELIGION, not culture, not race, not ethnicity, etc…it is first and foremost an IDEOLOGY. Sharia is a totalitarian political ideologist system (institution) of oppression with the same strong anti-non Muslim sentiment. Unless your really good at multi tasking I propose we take care of one problem before taking on another. Frankly, our plate is full.
