Productivity will decrease. You'll be smelling pot everywhere. Everything would just go down.
Because? Simply because it is legal does not mean that employers would tolerate people being or getting high on the clock (same way that they have issues with employees getting drunk).
It also won't be "everywhere". Consider. It's decriminalized in NYC already. So where do you smell it? Everywhere? Or in people's homes?
"Everything would just go down"? What does that even mean? (Technically you would be correct about profit margins for dealers and producers of the stuff… but otherwise….)
Many legalisation advocates do not do any drugs, in my case I avoid even alcohol or tobacco. It's a terrible form of paternalism to declare that there can be no enjoyment or mind-altered state that could possibly be worth it so we're just going to "prevent" you from using chemical X. I think it suffices to make people aware of the price, and to tax the revenue stream from a legal market the way we do with alcohol (and should increase that tax somewhat) to fund programmes that help with addiction or reducing criminal acts associated with use, but in the case of marijuana, I'd have to struggle to come up with a criminal action that easily associates itself with the drug (the same with nicotine) other than the fact that it is illegal.
Still, I'm amused that people persist in the logic that the only people who could possibly be for this as a policy choice must have some ulterior motives. It's always a good laugh. Thanks.
It has already been done, a very long time ago!
THC is not an effective pain killer, if it were it would have replaced the mainstream pain killers over a decade ago.
THC is available in prescription strength from many pharmacies in the U.S., all you need is a prescription from a doctor.
Legalizing MJ for medical use is nothing but an excuse to get high . . . . .
And as I have said before . . . THAT is why it is called DOPE!
