I think Obama is doing the right thing. We can't have these insurance companies with their ridiculous prices anymore. The government should most-certainly set-up a non-profit system and help control the private insurance companies' ridiculous prices.

I guess I'm ignorant…
Probably. If you think there should be companies who are just hoping to drop your coverage when you're sick, then you have issues my friend.
I'd kill medicare and stop subsidizing health insurance through employers (while not taxing health care coverage up to $5,000 per adult so that they don't experience a net tax increase.) This would give individuals more control over their own coverage and bring market forces back into play at controlling health care costs.
There is no health care problem, however if we let the government take over all health insurance . . . there certainly will be!
That ain't my not-so-humble opinion, that is an actual fact! o.0
How would I handle the health care problem?
1) Decreased regulation. Allow individuals to purchase health care across state lines. This would improve competition and would seriously reduce the cost of monthly premiums and improve quality of the health care insurance options available.
2) Serious tort reform. Less malpractice suits = less malpractice insurance that providers would have to purchase = the mass reduction of health care costs.
3) More free market solutions to the woes of our country's health care system. Keep the government out of the responsibility for providing health care to people.
4) Stop blaming the health insurance companies for being the problem with health care in our country!!! Do you blame General Motors or the Ford Motor Company when you forget to change the oil in your car and your engine goes to crap? No!
1) End Medicare, Medicaid.
2) Do not implement government-ran health care
3) Give yearly vouchers to the needy for health care in the US
