Yes because it's reaching more audiences in different geographical areas. The newspapers try to have their own blogs which are semi-successful, but at the end of the day, some of these blogs have a lot more "pull".
Since all broadcast media nowadays are completely biased toward whatever political bent they are prone to, and blogs are also, this is a totally moot question.
