Education is not a "cure" for anything, however it is a path to enlightenment.
It is helpful as a countervailing force to some persistent causes of poverty (namely through providing occupational opportunities or paths of advancement). But I don't know that I'd call it a "cure".
Particularly given that it is rarely "education" and in some cases explicitly resembles "job training" (which I have no problem with if that's the case, I just don't think we should call it "education") and the sort of socialisation required to hold down said jobs and has very little to do with imparting more complicated learning methods, perspective taking, and analytical thinking associated with "an education".
