Everything in life is destiny. I don't think we have the power to choose anything at all.
So me picking my nose right now is destiny?
He's talking about choices of importance.
I guess it may in the way, but what about all the bad choices we make? Is that destiny too? To make bad choices?
You never know. Sometimes they may not be bad choices, merely a misunderstanding or lack of maturity.
I'd like to think that all the decisions we make, good or bad, are for a reason. I am sure there are plenty instances where bad decisions eventually lead to a good result in the end.
Classic example is learning from your mistakes.
I believe that everything is in fact destiny. Angels from up-above are watching over you and making sure you fill out your life purpose. If you do that, then the gates of Heaven will open up for you.
That is a nice way to view things, I certainly hope so.
Yea Heaven. One good thing about being a Catholic.
I, personally, believe that this sort of thing is a personal belief. That means that what ever is your belief about this subject is what you believe.
Something like that . . . I think . . . Does this make any sense?
I could go on a long dissertation about the differences and all that, but I won't boor you with that sort of stuff.
Just my not-so-humble opinion.
Understandable papadawg.
I like choice, but that's only because I like to hold people accountable for their actions.
As they should be.
Life is unfolded through choices. I can choose between to kill a man or give him $10,000 on my own free whim. Destiny meaning “a predetermined course of events often held to be an irresistible power or agency,” according to Webster, states that I can`t choose what I want to do. Well I know I can choose between to sleep or throw myself off my house.
According to Islam, life is pre-planned to fulfill the purpose of the creation. But there is one thing which is not forced in any way. It is the will of every live being capable of willing.
For example: If you killed someone, and we reversed in time and returned to the same point of time at killing, that person will die at all cases. But the reason you are going to be held responsible is because, the killing happened by your will, regardless if the life limit the victim has. For that, in Islam, the "will" is the only thing by choice. And you will be held responsible for all "destinations" happened by your will.

That's crazy talk. No one plans to kill someone. That's exactly what murderers want people to believe so they don't get the death penalty.
Planning is not the only reason for accountability in murders. Your will is the actual reason, even if you didn't plan for the killing. But if you planned the killing, that means, you got a continuous will for killing someone, and many things happened with your will, which is leading to the killing of that person. But be sure that, if you didn't plan it (no will of it at all), the same things will happen but with different "wills". And if you were never thinking about killing some one, you will not be held responsible even if the killing happened by your own hand.
I meant with accountability here is against God, because God knows the "will". But people can be confused about "wills or motivations", and if you couldn't proof your honest will, you will be held accountable against people and law according to the historically standardized evidences of killing, like having the killing tool in your hand. That is a different sad story of the ignorance of human being.
In other words, if you want to not be guilty, you should always keep your will green and good. And that means, you will not plan for anything bad, and that is under your ability for sure. And after that, don't worry about the actual events, because, the plan of God is for the good of us, no matter what pain we could get in this life.
Yea I do believe that some hardship brings good into our lives, but anything that relates to killing people, that's just pure evil and someone turned bad.
That is unnatural. Killing is very natural, and you will need to provide your proofs that everything related to killing people is just a pure evil.
I think killing is something necessary sometimes. And not the merciful-killing.
Killing may be natural, however because we are conscience beings, we have the will power to rise above our animal instincts. We have the capability of compassion and love. And if you want to get into legal and morality, a human does not have the right to harm another, because this takes away their rights. You can protect your life, but you cannot harm for no reason.
My entire book is about choice vs. fate, and I encourage you to take a look.
Keep thinking,
Jennifer
