Why is a picture of an earthquake involved in a discussion on global warming? Plate tectonics are totally unrelated to global temperature patterns.
And the answer is to the actual question: no.
Ask NOAA for the explanation on hurricanes and the blizzards/nor'easters.
Now your a weather-expert? I think the question said recent weather disasters, which has been earthquakes, hurricanes, and tornadoes.
NOAA is a joke.
An earthquake is not a "weather disaster". It is a "natural disaster". Earthquakes and in particular volcanic eruptions can have environmental impacts that create weather patterns. But they are not "weather" under any standard definition: "the state of the atmosphere with respect to wind, temperature, cloudiness, moisture, pressure, etc." I don't see plate pressure shifts as corresponding to air pressure, therefore it is not weather.
I think you will find there are few things that I will comment on that I am not at least well-informed. So you should probably stop trying to insult me in order to make my arguments sound less informed and yours somehow valid as a result.
I certainly would trust the expertise of a collection of federally funded scientists over yours any day of the week. If that makes my views joke-worthy, so be it.
Yes. We are heading towards another ice age!
Woot.
Hey Sun Tzu, thanks for recognizing the mistake.
As far as the coldest winter deal:
"data from NASA that indicates that 2009 was the hottest year on record south of the Equator" and "North America experiencing conditions colder than normal in some regions." Not everything revolves around the USA you know. You may also want to look into La Nina/El Nino. Back when I was in science class, they explained ocean currents and major environmental shifts and patterns that they can cause.
I sympathize with the desire to appear to be an informed skeptic, but at least try to keep up with the scientific features of the debates before stomping in on them. Claiming that because it has snowed a lot here that therefore global warming is false isn't going to win over anybody who disagrees with you (which I assume is Jared) because they typically understand things like, say, the "global" part of "global warming".
Hay Jared, is global warming responsible for the coldest winter yet?
If you believe that it is, then please explain it to the millions of folks who are freezing their buns off.
Hey Debait it out . . . Every so often – so I have been told by science teachers back when science was taught in our public schools – the Earth wobbles in its orbit around the sun and sometimes it gets closer (global warming) and sometimes it gets farther away (global cooling) and all this can be called . . . drum roll please . . . "Periods of Global Climate Change".
Just my not-so-humble opinion. B)
What happened to Algore's "Global Warming"? o.0
What part of the Earth wobbling in its orbit around the Sun did you not understand? I understand that this has been happening ever since this Solar System was formed . . .
With the sheer volume of misinformation being thrown out by the so-called "politically correct" crowed, I do not see how anyone (least of all me) can consider themselves an informed skeptic on anything during this time in human history. You either blindly believe them or just form your own opinion. I choose to not believe a single word any of them say, especially Al Gore!
It's called "seasons" bub. I don't understand why you think that was worth mentioning or bringing back up. I actually thought you were trying to make a joke before about it.
So now I'm supposed to know if increased temperature in polar regions correlates to more devastating weather? There's no way anyone could show such an indirect relationship with a straight face. We simply don't have enough data to make such a claim. And scientists hold themselves to the evidence, they wouldn't go around pushing such a view. That would be like preachers saying that God is punishing Haiti for being sinful or some such rubbish. Scientists aren't ideologically driven advocates.

Oh… Well never mind…
Tornadoes have gotten really bad and hurricane Katrina was the worst of the century So yes this is the result of global warming. People are going to be ignorant of this bad weather till the day it affects the worlds population by threat and then it might be to late.
Simply stating that there are severe natural disasters occurring does not mean that you have established what has caused them by making that statement.
By what mechanism does climate change/global warming intensify or increase the frequency of tornadoes?
