Yes, of course.
Guy + Girl = Children. Guy + Guy = 2 Guys.
Girl + Girl is okay though.
That's crazy talk man.
The Bible says so. I believe the Bible, so yes.
Spoken like a true "Toga-General" . . . LOL
As Liberty says . . . As for the debate, well, if you believe what the Bible says then yes it is a sin.
If you are a Homosexual or Lesbian, then you possibly don't care what the Bible says.
Bottom line is = It is what the individual believes.
Just my not-so-humble opinion.
Lol that is pretty messed up. According to your equation then, how just two guys a sin? Also, how could two guys together be a sin while two girls is not? Because you aren't disgusted by the sight of two females together?
We'll never know the answer.
Lol Liberty you must be a very nice person.
I'm thinking you're being a bit sarcastic, LOL
Let me clarify- I don't think that we have a right to slaughter people just because they are homosexual. However, I reserve my Constitutional right to tell them they are sinning. I also acknowledge their Constitutional right to also say that I am wrong, and for them to get married to whoever they please.
I really wasn't being sarcastic lol. I can tell from some of your comments that you are very by the book and always try to do things the "right" way, or what is perceived to be "right" anyway.
I like your response to what I said however.
Oh OK. I get the sarcastic response a lot, LOL- and then I have to explain, etc.
Yes Homosexuality is a sin. According to Webster`s dictionary sin is “an offense against religious or moral law.” Because Homosexuality goes against religious teachings and is taboo in our day and age it is in fact a sin.
Exactly. It is the bible that defines what sin is. The bible defines homosexuality as a sin and therefore it is one.
I don't think so, then again I'm not a Christian.
Since I don't believe in the concept of "sin", I can't really answer this specific question. As to the more general question, homosexuality is merely one of the many manifestations of life. It appears to abound in a variety of mammals (and maybe other creatures too). Consequently, it appears quite natural and statistically normal.
Something can only be "a sin" if you believe in sin. If you are taught that love is only meant to produce children then you will think homosexuality is a sin. If you are taught that people loving each other is more important than producing the next generation of good little religious followers, then you should have no problem with two men marrying and living their own life together.
Erik, while I agree your Websters definition of sin is accurate as far as what the dictionary says I don't think that proves homosexuality as a sin. It states that a sin is a transgression against religious and moral law. OK so put aside the religious aspect because we all in this world have different religion and therefore don't asnwer to the same book. Homosexuality is not breaking a moral law. There certainly isn't a law in America that says homosexuality is immoral. If the idea of two men marrying frightens you then you are letting it get too far into your life. Everyone has the right to worship or love as they feel comfortable. Morals, as any sociology professor will tell you, are ethnocentric. Meaning they progress and change with the society at large. Homosexuality wasn't taboo for the greeks, and for many cultures during the formative civilized years. America was colonized mainly by people so strict even the Britains thought they were too uptight. 400 years after Roanoke maybe it's time we broadened our social views a bit!
homosexuality is not a sin simply because it is defined as such by a segment of humanity. The problem here is that people who believe it is a sin have been taught to think sins actually exist. So yes, homosexuality is a sin if you were taught so, but it is not breaking any true law–aside from those silly sodomy laws that are still on the books in some places. The question should be whether or not homosexuality hurts anyone. You can't ask if it's wrong, because that's just more subjective speculation based on religious teachings. As with almost every "controversial" issue dealing with morality, if it is not hurting anybody and not taking away the rights of anyone, it should not be a problem.
I guess it depends on who you ask. Christians say yes, most non-christians say no.
I personally believe let people do what they want. Who am I to tell people to not do what they want.
I am somewhat of a Christian, although my views towards the world change almost constantly as I have new experiences and learn new things. I'm a thinker and a rationalist, with a small segment of my mind settled in the comfort area of what is the easiest to do. Anyway, here is my current opinion:
The Bible is not infallible, or free of errors (as I was taught at my Baptist church). I refuse to believe many of the specifications of the Old Testament, and regard it primarily as a book of culture, knowing in my mind that the themes were inspired by God, yet a majority of the written text is a reflection of the writers who believed a great deal of superstitious things.
Now actually contributing to the debate, As I stated before, viewing the old Testament as Culture, and the Hebrew moral code, I do not believe that homosexuality is wrong, just like I don't believe that slavery is morally right.
I am something of a multi- faith person because I study most religions and I believe in God. Throughout Human history homosexuality ( and bestiality) has been discouraged for various reasons. In Deuteronomy
Women are not to wear men's clothing — it's an "abomination unto the Lord." 22:5
God says not be bring any whore, sodomite, or dog into the house of the Lord. For "these things are an abomination to the Lord." Sodomites and dogs are biblical names for homosexuals. 23:17-18
there is also a rather hillarious admonition which says Do not put a young man in charge of a flock of sheep 'Lest here be an abomination'. I must admit I cracked up at that one!
However I do not believe that God would be as hard on homosexuality these days, after all some peple are born that way and it is natural to them and should be accepted as such within a loving relationship.
The one thing that infuriates me though is the promotion of homosexuality in schools as a 'viable life choice' Some of these children are taught this in infants class, when they should not even be thinking about sexual matters.
I blame the Marxist Frankfurt School for this, because their intention is to destroy the family, and ultimately society itself by promoting 'Gay-ness'. I see them as vile people and highly manipulative. In the 1970's I met a whole bunch of women from Lancaster University who called themselves 'politically gay'. Because they were Marxists, and the White heterosexual male was their target group!
I'm assuming the "Girl + Girl is okay" is a joke. (I hope.)
The point Jared is trying to make is that from a biological standpoint, a guy and a girl can create children, while two guys (or two girls) cannot. It doesn't make sense biologically.
Homosexuality is a sin…..God intended a Man and a Woman to be together. There are a couple of things in the bible that mention homosexuality and all of the people that were homosexual were punished for it. I say this because i am speaking of what the bible tells me, but i have friends who are homosexual. I'm not a homophobe but i am straight. They're just people like us and no different, no less or no more. But what is to become of the homosexuals that are christian? It is said that all sins are forgiven except for one. The sin of not accepting Jesus Christ into your life and believing that he died on the cross for us. How can he let someoneinto the Kingdom of Heaven if they dont believe in him? Anyway as i was saying…..Yes homosexuality is a sin just like any other.
