Shoes. Barefoot is too dangerous, who knows what kind of germs you can pick up as well as harmless objects on the floor.
Barefoot unless you expect to be jumping and getting stepped on by people who are wearing shoes. If you have a weak pain tolerance or can't handle getting your feet scraped and calloused up from pieces of gravel and such, then I guess shoes are your thing. I suppose there are some neighbourhoods where objects on the ground would be best avoided and shielded against punctures, so it depends where you're trying to run.
Flip flops should be more common for walking as well.
Just like this tribe that can run 50mph with just these type of slippers on.
They cannot run that fast, it's a myth. The human body isn't capable of exceeding 35-40 and the world's fastest sprinters run about 25-28.
What they can do is run 50 miles with nothing on their feet whatsoever.
Tis better to walk than run – Running is high impact on the feet and ankles and knees, whereas walking is the very best exercise for the human body as it does not overwork the cardiovascular system and is low impact on the feet, ankles and knees.
As for me, I ride my bicycle up to ten miles a day – rain, wind or shine.
Just my not-so-humble opinion. B)
