Each child is different and has a different attitude and different values. Our youngest would take a spanking and not bat an eye, but put him in a corner where he could not see what was going on and that just devastated him. Our Daughter was just the opposite, she could stand in a corner all day but if she thought that I was even thinking about spanking her she would crumble into a pile of tears(she ignored any disciplinary measures my wife took upon her, but she never wanted her Dad to be upset with her).
Physical force is never the one and only answer in child disciplinary measures – Parents need to know their children, sometimes a good talking to actually gets more results than a spanking. One of our Grandsons loves to read but has a thing about writing – However, when his Mother sits him down and talks to him, getting him to put a reason (not an excuse) to his errant behavior seems to do the most good.
