I don't think there is any progress being made. Greedy politicians who aren't doing anything over there.
Is it our job to make progress in third world countries? "Third World Nation" is defined as countries that remained non-aligned or neutral with either capitalism and NATO (which along with its allies represented the First World) or communism and the Soviet Union (which along with its allies represented the Second World).
What business is it of ours to remold countries with no interest in our methods or laws? Why don't we wait until they make some progress of their own and then perhaps get to the point where THEY ask for help instead of just having it airifted in.
If you picture the whole world as a family, and each country as a sibling, then America is one of the biggest, strongest, and most successful countries there is. Now, if you saw another country, "brother", suffering and struggling, wouldn't you help them out? Sometimes, you have to do what's right.
Totally agree!
But giving help without firstb eing asked for it isn't exactly honorable. Third world countries have come to depend entirely on us, making it so that they use our charity money to finance their never-ending wars. That is not what we want, either.
Hey, to all of you who don't think we should help out, look back at your life so far. If it wasn't for other people, you wouldn't be alive right now. We all don't "make our beds" sometimes in our lives, and when that happens, there is always someone who's there to help us. If you have that "dog-eat-dog" mentality, then nothing will change in this life. We all think we are unstoppable when things are doing good, but when they are going bad, we all rely on others to pick us up. I don't care if they are in a different country or thousands of miles away, they are still human and being heartless and putting money over people's lives is where you all fall.
agreed! i dont feel its our job to help, and unless you in those countries who cares? maybe im harsh but i really think you make ur bed you sleep in it.
No one said that it was our “job” to help 3rd world countries, it’s about letting someone have a chance at living past 10. It’s more about doing what you know is rights, no one is asking you to help, just let the rest of us clear our conscious.
I don't necessarily believe that the United States gives up any money or time to merely help another country. There is always some other motive.
But Jared, our government is not here for humanitarian reasons. If you want to help the third world countries, go there and give your time and money- don't just send my taxmoney. Nowhere in the Constitution does it give Congress the authority to send taxpayer dollars overseas. That is not what taxpayer money is for. Taxpayer money is to pay down our debt and pay for those things WE need, like defense, etc. Not for the 'poor starving children in Ethopia'.
When my family needed help, my friends helped. I did not get money from the government of Britain, or even my own government. Our friends stepped in and filled the gap. If you, personally, want to be a friend to third world countries, then be my guest. No one is stopping you from sending your money there.
But my taxpayer money is being sent overseas. Doesn't that bother you? I don't have a choice in the matter! If you want to clear your conscience, then like I said, send your money over there through a charity.
It is not the government's job to send money. Period.
think of all those little kids, its not there fault the country is poor, its about having a good heart and helping people out.
