There are a lot of great ones but I do believe Spielberg has shown with his diversity, consistency and ground-breaking films that he is at the top.

Take your pick there. Most any of those will be better than the average Spielberg movie. The one problem I'd have with that comparison though is that Hitchcock is not quite of "his time". They don't overlap very much at all.
And Spielberg has a bunch of stuff from the previous two decades that was quite good, at least relative to the well-known competitors. Scorsese looks like about the only real competition in the same generational cohort.
Dial M for Murder is still one of the best murder mystery movies EVER!
