Yes because now the Internet is giving people to express their opinion more freely which includes spreading more intellectual beliefs.
Yes, because knowledge has always been the enemy of religion.
And is that good Jared?
No, because if used properly, technology, especially the Internet and social-networking sites in particular, can be good tools for spreading truth.
To a point yes. Before the Internet and other technology, there were very strict Catholics, and then there were very strict Atheists. The Internet is putting a balance in between both of them.
Technology does not necessarily spread correct knowledge Fred. It spreads any knowledge you want it to spread.
Religious institutions have been at the forefront of technological uses – from the earliest accounts of history (some say that the Bible was an early attempt at recording history) to the present-day, religious institutions have used the technology of the time to further their agenda's and "get the word out" to the masses and increase their rolls.
Oral Roberts used the brand new medium called television as the first "televangelist", and now look at all the TV preachers. Religious institutions utilized the first printing presses, they also furthered and promoted handwriting through the ages.
No, technology has not hurt religious institutions, instead technology has helped the spread of certain destructive ideological beliefs such as Atheism (which is a sort of religion in and of itself, to be absolutely honest about it) and Islam, along with promoting the so-called mainstream religions.
Technology has provided religious institutions a better way of communicating their message to the masses.
Just my not-so-humble opinion. B)
Does technology hurt religious institutions? Only the ones that don't want open discussion and sharing of information. And there are some of those out there. Is technology intrinsically harmful to religion? Absolutely not! It does in fact offer more ways to reach more people with our message (yes, I work for a church and I do a LOT of technology related work). Equally it can be used to spread distorted versions of religion as well (fundamentalist Christianity, Islam as examples, the same can be said for any extreme viewpoint – sociological, political etc)
I will take exception to the casual inclusion of Islam as a "destructive ideological belief". Islam is victimized as much by their extremists as the rest of the world. Islam shares core beliefs with both Christianity and Judaism. Both of the latter two also have violent, destructive extremists. It's too easy, too pat and frankly intellectually lazy to make that kind of sweeping generalization about Islam. The facts don't support the position. Islam has in the past served as an intellectual and artistic heartbeat for the human race.

Everything that can happen now (with communication) could happen before, too. It just happens a lot faster now. Religions can use technology to help them "spread the word", and other people can use technology to spread ideas that go against religions. None of this is new, though–with the exception of how quickly it spread. So, no, technology is not inherently an enemy to religion. (Many religions actually use it quite effectively.)
defiantly not .. i cant say for sure but i think all religions encourages learning and inventing .. and its a sin to be uneducated while you can , i can see why you would wonder that though .. it because we see religious men always standing on the contradictory of internet and TV and computers and attacking modern life .. the thing is what they are probably attacking is modern life style that made morals decompose .. you will watch porn and you wont feel like you committed a sin because it became very usual and popular .. or you'd watch a movie on TV that encourages you to live your life like there is no tomorrow
i am not defending religion people who condemned Galileo , and i know that some religious men opposes modern technology because it stole the lights from them or because it gives people who don't believe in religion a voice and a space to talk in freely .. am not defending those either .. but we need to confess that with all the great pleasures modern technology brought .. it also made us less of believers and turned us away from god.
all am trying to say is there is no doubt that we should seek technology .. but we shouldn't miss use it and forget about the after life.
