1) Actual border security has nothing to do with whether or not a bill should be proposed or the issue addressed by national policies.
2) Actual immigration reform likely to be proposed (by either party) will not very much resemble the militant nativist demands of those who want harder more fortified borders anyway (or perceive a need for them in the first place), so what difference does the actual border security matter to the end result?
Come down here to Arizona and walk along the border before you make any statements about "perceived" needs for border security . . .
If anyone thinks for one second that border security is not an issue, they need to come down here and experience the results of Janet Napolotano's DHS non-efforts at securing our borders.
Why don't you go ask the counties on the border, the cops there, what the crime rate is. The actual crime rate. And then the actual number of crimes committed by supposed illegal immigration. I have no problem touring the state because the crime rate has a) plummeted and b) isn't largely caused by immigration (the immigration "problem" is the drug war, end that, and the problem you have largely goes away, if not the problems of other nativists).
Your perceptions are nonsense and bluster not backed up by actual events. Period.
It matters a lot the border needs secured now.
