Definitely the environment, without earth or people, the economy does not even exist.
Nah, the economy. If the economy is doing good, I'm okay. Too bad future grandkids, your grandpa doesn't care lol jk.
Well even if the economy is doing good but we mess up the planet, then we are all screwed anyway.
Not in our lifetime. We are going to be a-okay.
Yeah but then what about the aforementioned grand kids?
Oops…I'll send them that letter.
Haha you are a very funny man. However, we are getting off topic here. Do you think the economy is necessary for life to be sustained?
Yea, I think it needs to be sustained because like we have discussed in previous topics, there are many cures and stuff out there in the environment for us to find.
Jared, you are a very inconsiderate human being.
Ok I agree with that. But don't you feel like man should not mess with nature? Has this ever turned out productive in any way?
Well, we need nature to a point, but what exactly do you mean by messing with nature?
Neither is more important than Human survival.
The economy is something that is man-concieved and nurtured, therefore it is man controlled, therefore we should not concern ourselves with something that we ultimately control.
The environment is not, and never will be man controlled, nor has it ever been man-concieved. The result is that we should never worry about anything that we cannot and never will control.
Therefore, I believe that we should focus on Human survival instead of worrying about something that we will never have a say in its ultimate outcome.
You may all disagree with me, however you will ultimately understand my viewpoint . . . even if it takes you a while.
Just my not-so-humble opinion.
Any sort of destruction or development over important environments and ecosystems.
Actually you do make sense what you are saying. Basically, don't worry about what you cannot control?
An interesting viewpoint.
I think it is a delicate balance. On the one hand, the environment is important because it is possible that if we completely ignore it, we'll end up polluting our entire water supply and then die. But then again, the economy is important too because if don't have a good one, then all production will cease, and we will die (or our style of living will go down, at the very least).
Yea well not everyone is humanitarian. I happen to think all humanitarians are just a bunch of phonies. All they do is point the finger. They can talk the talk, but they never walk the walk.
That depends on the kind of person you are.
If you are an honest man, you will not prefer your life (or life style) over the life of the billions to come.
if you are one of the desire-controlled persons, you surely will love to keep the economy running as far as the environment does not interfere with your desire-satisfying life style, regardless what ever will happen to the others.
Sorry, but this debate is really out of the dictionary of any humanitarian guy. We should sacrifice for the life of others if we want to feel comfortable when we sleep at night (if we like to call our selves “honest”).
That why the "honest" label meant to be used. Because, not all humanitarians are really honest to their words. But this debate is really out of their "Sponken" dictionary.

The economy should not be touched. The founding fathers felt it best to keep government's hands out of the economy. That why we have the problems today.
We should try to protect the environment, but going crazy like the "save the whales" people is a little too much.
but, i think the enviroment is way more important!!!!1
Actually, the economy I think would be better. Bio-engineers and genetic manipulations have recently discovered that we can help the economy without completely destroying the environment. Plus, not helping the economy would be worse for human health because people would be laid off, in the case of the oil slicks. More poverty.
The economy used to be and still is a very big subject today but the subject on the environment will soon become a big topic, such as cars, buldings with plants on them (skyscrapers), clean renewable energy, and healthy eating.
