I believe so. I understand that he did comedy in his career and what not, but to expose him like that on a commercial years after his death is just disrespectful.
I felt very strange watching it knowing this man was dead, and has been dead for quite some time.
I have not seen this commercial and I don't know who this Chris Farley was.
I mean, do any of you know who Fatty Arbuckle was and why he should have been prosecuted for murder and wasn't?
Some celebrities are remembered for what they portrayed and some for not being good people, but not everyone knows who they are or were.
After all, Rock Hudson being outed as a homosexual who died of AIDS was the heartbreak of many an old spinster back in the day . . .
Just my not-so-humble opinion.
Yes it is. They are marketing off of his death. They did the exact same thing once Heath Ledger died. They immediately switched to advertising his character and the film turned out to be one of the best in history.
I don't think its being disrespectful since we use the images/likenesses of dead people all the time, especially to peddle products. I just think it shows a lack of respect by his supposed friend to do the commercial, especially since he must have gotten paid far too much for his role. Bad taste? Yes. Disrespectful? No. Dumb? Yes!
Chris Farley was an American actor/comedian, died at the age of 33 due to a heart attack. He was most famous for acting on Saturday Night Live for a number of years, as well as his role in many comedians, especially teamed up with David Spade and Adam Sandler.
They are just using his publicity for this direct tv commercial I believe.
And the irony of it is David Spade acts in the commercial.
It was a commercial showcasing one of his most famous performances in "Tommy Boy." How is that disrespectful? Using something like this really triggers a response in someone from my generation. I loved Chris Farley, I still love Chris Farley…I would buy any product his face was stamped on. Hell I think we should make him president!
