I think it is to a point. It has been successful at not keeping the United States isolated.
I don't think it has been very successful. Look at how many international wars and conflicts have been fought since its inception. I thought the whole point of the U.N. was to keep the world's nations from going to war against each other. If anything, it seems to me that they foster and promote international conflict.
Just my opinion though.

Well, I think it's been a little successful since it provides a forum for all countries. It's better than nothing.
