Yes, the world is getting more violent. More violent by the minute!
Human history is awash with violence, always has been and always will be.
Genghis Khan, Sun Tzu, Peter the Great, Napolean Bonaparte, Tojo, Adolf Hitler, Mao Tse Tung, Joseph Stalin . . . . the list is endless and will add names not yet born.
Violence has and will always be a way of life for the Human race. Not even the best of our science fiction writers have ever figured out a way for us humans to live without it, not even in the fictional "Star Trek" Utopian future is there everlasting peace.
Don't forget the crusades, the roman empire, the first 800 years of the British empire….. all worked on the premise of brutal, fearful, violence!
In terms of raw numbers, I'm sure that there is more violence now, just because there are so many more people.
Modern day violence is at a distance – firearms – whereas the ancients did it up close and personal . . .
