Is there an actual terrorist threat in the United States?

There actually has been a lot of new theories coming out, especially since we are 8 years removed from 9/11, that the terrorist threat in the U.S. has been overly exaggerated. Why haven't they attacked us? They have seemed capable in attacking several other countries in this span, but not the U.S. And no, it is not because our national security thwarted every plan, the same government that had a monumental collapse in its response to Hurricane Katrina in 2005. The chance of an American being killed by an international terrorist is one in 80,000.
Sure. In 1995 and 1996 we had bombs go off, along with a series of them over 17 years ending 1995. We've had an ongoing campaign of terror against abortion clinics.
I assume what you are asking is for domestic terrorism right?
I think that's what Chris means.
I don't think there really is a threat going on in the United States except for those citizens who are traitors and try to turn against us and make some plot which the government finds out about instantaneously.
Then he should probably reconsider the image being used.
I am talking about the international terrorist threat to the United States, the image is of the Iraqi swat team.
No one thought there was a threat 8 years ago either…
Then in that case, not so much of a threat. There is some. Terrorists exist.
But their ability to do much of anything with some refinements in security precautions (not the overblown fortress mentality of most Americans) is a very small risk. You're in far greater danger of being killed by another American for any number of reasons, a few of which relate to political acts of terrorism.
Actually lots of people did.
Yes there is, and the threat is much more ominous than anyone has ever imagined.
There are exactly 535 of them, and they are all in Washington D.C. masquerading as U.S. Senators and members of the House of Representatives.
They are attacking our Constitutional rights even as I write this.
And THAT is my not-so-humble opinion!
Not so sure. I find it hard to believe the people who attacked us can't just blow up a bus or subway. You can walk into a subway station with a backpack and no one will think twice.
I personally believe there is a lot more going on behind the scenes than we know. We only know what the media allows us to know.
