Yesssss! But they have the best stuff, hands down.
Walmart is actually do good for society. It is putting more power into the hands of the retailer instead of the manufacturer. Walmart is in fact a monopoly, which is never good. If you have one or two more companies that has a chance to compete with Walmart and still have the same concept, with putting more power to the retailers, then I would say it would benefit us even more.
I wouldn't oppose government intervention in a situation where one corporation had control of the entire economy and had no competition, but that is simply not the case here. Walmart has several other big box stores to compete with.
Small businesses have potential advantages over corporations like Wal-Mart, which many of them choose not to tap into. These advantages include excelling in a certain industry, developing a friendship with customers, listening to customer's suggestions, and implementing new ideas without having to wait for approval from a board.
Walmart is the largest corporation by far. There is no retailer that is even close up there in the list next to them.
Yeah they are a powerhouse.
I need my discount goods! You'll never take away my $5 DVD b in,; NEVER!!!
*Runs off to Wal Mart*
In my opinion Wal Mart is bad for the economy because it has essentially put the mom and pop shops out of business.
Sure, when they put up a new store they create more jobs, but in my opinion everytime they put up a store in a new area they create what I'll call one-sided competition.
There are a few people out there that are still willing to go to the smaller shops out of principle but when they (Wal Mart) charges next to nothing for the same or similar products, there is no way these smaller businesses can stay in business.
Sure, the local businesses provide things like developing a relationship with the customers but in an economy as volatile as ours, most people don't care about those sorts of things anymore, they just want cheap and they want it now and Wal Mart is playing on those feelings.
Not really blaming them. They are a corporation and they are smart. So I'm not blaming them, I'm just stating why I think they are bad for the economy.
Walmart is where the creepy people congrigate. I dont really care for it because we have HEB down here in Texas and its only a Texas company and they sell Meat that was produced in Texas and all Texas products.
