Even South America couldn't unify despite José de San Martín and Simón Bolívar. Such political unions in Africa seem implausible to me.

you can't create a political union from various kingdoms and tribes that kill each other at the drop of a hat for either power or money.

Maybe for once we should realize that it's not our business to poke our heads into another country or set of countries... or in this case an ENTIRE friggin continent. Alot of Africa is quite civilized these days. Most of the countries on the edges of the continent have full governments in working capaicity. Algeria, Morocco, South Africa, and those are just off the top of my head. Lets not forget the Egyptians who had toilet paper while the rest of the world was still frightened by Halley's Comet! Let the african countries figure themselves out. Drop food and water to them every month if it eases your ethical pains but don't tell another culture they have to use condoms, either they'll figure it out, or their problems will work them out over time. African culture has been there for 1000's of years, I don't think the 21st century is going to bring them down that much.

P.S. voodoo is a Carribbean origin. Haiti/Dominican Republic. It made its way over here from the island of Hispaniola into the New Orleans early creole culture.....

It seems to me that the native Africans do not care to govern themselves in any sort of a civilized fashion. I had a relative who spent three years in Africa trying to teach the people personal hygiene and how to take care of their newborn babies, all to no avail.

I believe that it all has something to do with their backward religious beliefs - you know, voodoo and all that stuff. It has long been documented that most African males believe that the cure for aids is to have sex with a virgin - regardless of the age of the virgin - and that is why the spread of that disease is so rampant on that continent.

With that kind of mentality as the norm, I do not believe that there can ever be any kind of viable governing body let alone an African Political Union.

Just my not-so-humble opinion. B)

Yes but it's probably not going to be possible. Things are so corrupt in those countries.
