I think they should be, especially during the winter season. They should also purchase that ice-melting stuff as well, instead of letting ice be all over the sidewalk.
Depends, are the homeowners allowed to use this sidewalk for their own personal use and/or claim this property as their own or are these sidewalks claimed as property by the local government? If the later is true, than no, they should not be responsible for the sidewalk's upkeep.
That being said, I think most homeowners have some sense of decency to go ahead and take care of the sidewalk because they know nobody else will do anything about it.
The rising cost of concrete is nothing less than ridiculous.
As with water and sewer lines, the municipality can add the cost of installing and maintaining sidewalks and streets to the utility bill which the individual homeowner could easily afford to pay.
Just my not-so-humble opinion. B)
No, its the city's property. Unless the sidewalk stops and goes onto their property, then it is not the homeowners problem.
