I am adamantly opposed to this. Features such as displayed in the photo can be detrimental to anyone on the road.
I agree. It's like having a laptop installed in your car. Can you drive while being on a laptop?
Of course! How else am I supposed to read these topics while on the freeway?
Yes well I guess cops shouldn't have them either eh??
People need to be more responsible.. Thats all. I see people here in Florida get in accidents without anything on the dash..
things like direction finders, address locator's and on-star now help to save lives.
It's irresponsible people who should not have them.
SURE!!! police officers do it all the time.
I see people crash without that stuff.. It's irresponsible people who shouldn't have them.
Anything that takes your eyes off of the road can lead to accidents, and laws regarding it may need to be considered. But just because you have some form of computer-like display does necessarily mean it is worse than analog buttons, dials, and displays (like the radio, the odometer, or speedometer).
Judgements about things like this need to come down only to how distracting it is, and in my mind, the fact that it is digital, and looks a bit like a computer, is not a significant part of whether it is distracting or not.
Of course, mine's a Mac, not a PC, so it's OK!
