No. I can't stand that these days. Why is everyone so in love with their pets? Do you really feel the need to have your pet come shopping with you? The best is when they go, oh she doesn't bite, and then you have the dog barking at you and chasing after you. Oh, I think she likes you. Yea right.
Only service dogs should be allowed, ie seeing eye dogs and the like.
Little fifi the hairless rodent pretending to be a dog should never be allowed in any public place like stores.
That is my not-so-humble opinion.
Nope, my dog can go anywhere he wants to!
I'd leave it up to the store or business . They'd usually say no outside of service animals anyway. But I know some specialty pet stores won't mind.
Dogs should be allowed anywhere. That's what they do in Paris. They allow well behaved dogs in the malls and even inside restaurants. We have dog friendly restaurants (outside only) and a few dog-friendly stores (e.g. Orvis) and I wish there were more. Therapy dogs are allowed in hospitals and schools.
I guess it depends on what angle you are looking at. If I was a store owner I would be hesitant to allow dogs in the store because you just don't know what can happen. Some dogs can get into fights, start barking, hey, they might even take a crap or pee on your products. Some dogs might even attack little kids in the store. I would be afraid of those issues.
As a dog owner, I wish there were more stores that allowed pets but I know of so many irresponsible dog owners that can't control their dogs, so I don't mind that pets aren't allowed in many stores.

I've taken my dog many places, the latest was a truck parts place. We were thrown out of an auto parts store? The bank loves him, put him on the counter when he was a baby etc. He is small and non shedding, I see no reason why he couldn't go shopping with me, sitting @ home alone is no fun.
As to why people are so in love with their pets? I think they always have been but people are more open and discuss everything more now. After all a smart dog is supposedly as smart as a 2-6 year old child?
I'm allergic to dog-hair
Allow pets wherever they want they are like people too!
While I would love to take my dog everywhere, it's important to consider social and religious sensitivities. Not all people are dog lovers. A lot of people don't like dogs or are scared of them. I once had a 30-year-old lady burst into tears when my 3-month-old puppy nipped her ankles. Also, not all dog owners are responsible. Several of my neighbours don't clean up after their dogs in the park, so you can forget about them entering shopping malls.
I would love to take my cat everywhere with me…but I respect the fact that many people are allergic to pet hair.
As an owner of a Service Dog, the only place I seem to have any trouble is when I enter any Wal-Mart stores. They have these very untrained greeters at the entrance to all of their stores, there to just openly violate the ADA Act of 1990 and to make you feel really bad for being disabled in the first place. I'm a disabled veteran and I rely on my service dog in so many ways. He lets me and others around me know when I need help and even helps me off of the floor when I can't get back up. He carries a flash drive of my medical records and my medications for medical emergencies. He also protects me from wild animals by letting me know that they're there. He doesn't bark much but when he does,I pay close attention. Thanks!
I respect that and I 100% am for service dogs.
In a free society, an issue like this is to be decided by the private property owner. Not by you, not by me, and especially not by government.
i love animals and i agree that service animals should be allowed in public places. Service animals and their owners receive intense training, so they do not pose any threat to the public. However, for an animal of any kind or size to be allowed in any establishment besides a pet store is downright ridiculous. I have a dog and a cat, however they are both content to stay at home when I leave. There is absolutely no reason for you to take your dog along when shopping for a new outfit, buying a new computer, picking out your cell phone, cashing checks at the bank, etc. If these people truly cared about their pets they would not put them at risk like this. If your dog bites someone in the face because you thought he would enjoy picking up paint at your local hardware store, you get to put him down and possibly help foot the bill for some 5 year old child who now has permanent scars on their face and is terrified of dogs. Now it doesn't seem like such a good idea, does it? If you want to socialize your dog save it for petsmart!
Only if they are in the frozen section and displayed as other meats.
