Yes, it should. The monarchy has no power whatsoever anymore. Why have them live luxurious lives if they don't make any important decisions whatsoever?
I'm going to say whatsoever one more time, whatsoever.
That decision should be up to the English citizens.
Anybody here in England? (Doesn't look like it yet…)
The problems of the current Constitutional monarchy are basically no different than they were when Paine wrote his scathing commentary on the institution. But the British have had over 200 years since then and they still haven't gotten rid of the thing all the way, despite some slow elimination of real power. Based on that, I don't think they're going to get rid of it just because Americans find the idea somehow repulsive.
I'm British and the monarchy doesn't bother me at all. There are plenty of other things that I spend money on (through tax) that annoy me more than the royal family. They're not doing much harm at the moment. I imagine that one day, people will get tired of them and we'll have another civil war of sorts but until, let them stay where they are. I'd rather spend the time and effort sorting out the pikeys.
The monarchy are the pride of Britain an to say that they or the queen has no power at all is an understatement. For 1 she has her own armies
signed over to her eg the irish guards and so on. Plus she is still the queen of a few of the commonwealth countries and still decides on laws and such in this country and theirs.
