Absolutely not.
In France, it is viewed as a religious symbol and so along with everything else, it comes under the ban. The bigger question here is should religious symbols be banned in the first place. Personally, i'm quite relaxed about it.

The murderous cult of Islam should be banned in its entirety, world wide!
Just my not-so-humble opinion. B)
Why? What's wrong with a hijab or niqab? There are reasons why they shouldn't be required to be worn I think and that women who refuse to wear them should have this decision respected in accordance with their individual autonomy, but I cannot think of a reason why they should be equally banned or restricted.
