Should the three-drug cocktail for lethal injection be abandoned for one single massive dose?

I don't think you could use only one shot. The three dose cocktail works in three stages, the first stage is a fast acting anasthetic to knock the prisoner out. The second stage is a high end muscle relaxant to stop the diaphram from pumping air into the lungs, and the third stage causes a heart attack. The problem is, if you use only one stage which one will it be???
Using only the first stage and massively overdosing the prisoner on barbituates may not actually lead to death. Peoples tolerances are higher than others for anasthetic… so they might live… thats a problem.
Using only the second or third stage either causes the person to suffocate while awake, or go into cardiac arrest while awake… both ideas are definitely filed under cruel and unusual…
Solution, two 9mm bullets to the back of the head administered by a court appionted executioner. Fast, painless, cheap.
Done

Nope. Easier and much less expensive to just shoot them in the back of the head.
Keep in mind that if the criminal has done something to warrant the death penalty then that criminal did nt have any regard for for his/her victims humane treatment, so why should we treat the convicted criminal humanely?
just my not-so-humble opinion. B)

You always want to do something that is out of the Old West.

Yea, that's messed up papadawg. Lethal injection is painless.

You missed it again, Jared.
What about the pain and suffering the criminal caused the victims?

Oh, Sal, let's be kind and considerate to the uncaring and heartless criminal, shall we?
Read my post again. Can you comprehend and understand that the criminal just does not care about his/her victims pain and suffering?
Why should we be all nice and fuzzy to someone like that?

Because we are not them Papadawg. We put ourselves to a higher standard then they do. It’s called grace, when you get something you don’t deserve.
There's some pretty convincing articles out there that point to lethal injection not being quite as painless as you've been led to believe. In several cases it's a considerable chance that the knock-out injection has failed to work properly before the criminal receives the second and third injection, forcing them to remain awake through the shutdown of their lungs….
I'd rather have the two shots to the back of the head…..

I don't want to be nice to them, I simply think they should rot in a prison cell.

Anything to do with causing death is inhumane.

If we put ourselves to a higher standard, then we would not be killing them.

Giving someone a humane injection and not killing them would both be examples of putting ourselves to a higher standard.
