I believe research should go towards it, but just the United States, let the other countries figure it out themselves, instead of letting us do all the work all the time. If this planet goes to waste, we need another place to crash.
For the long term, we should be looking at possibilities because we all know the earth will not last forever and we will need an alternative to survival.
We should ALL be colonising space as a collective endeavour. Not because 'the Earth is going to die' blah, blah but because Human expansion is a good thing in and of itself.
Yes, it costs a lot of money and yes, there are tremendous risks involved.
But the costs and risks of turning our back on space exploration are far, far greater.
Ah, yes. Human colonies out in space, on other worlds – this is the stuff dreams and science fiction are made of . . . . . And we all know that science fiction has turned into science fact more often than not.
Space exploration should never be a governmental exclusive endeavor. On the contrary, it should be left up to private enterprise with our governments blessing. Only privately funded exploration has ever worked out in the past, and that is how it should be done in the near and far future.
We all know that government intervention does nothing but stifle competition, and competition is what scientific achievements are born of. Open up the "space race" to private enterprise and make all the governmental knowledge of space flight available to all privately owned companies.
When that is done, Humans will be on Mars within a decade, and off to the stars before the turn of the next century!
That is just my not-so-humble opinion.
Fully agree, open to private enterprise. That way when my best friend gets older and goes into aerospace I can get a good discounted tour of the solar system… (I always wanted to go in space.)
We need to make sure that the US is ahead of enemy states suchas china.
YES IT WOULD BE FUN TO FLOAT
Yeah. It would be so much fun to float!
Probably not until we figure out how to make gravititional devices that can keep gravity inside buildings.
Why is it JUST about America? Im American and i like my country but why does it always have to be about us? Why cant it say "Should Humans start colonizing space?" Or what about "Should America and the other countries start colonizing space?"
