The stability of Afghanistan does not concern us, no. That is a decades long imperial project.
Dealing with international terrorists does not require us to occupy or attack every nation on earth from which they may emerge in a great and expensive game of whack-a-mole. Which will ultimately, from its expense, limit our freedom terribly more than being "free" from the actually minimal risk of terrorist acts committed on our soil or against Americans.
Yes. The conflict in Afghanistan is stupid and wasteful- in more ways than one.
