I think there should be, but not to the point where site's get taken down for no good reason.
This question keeps being asked, each time with a different inference.

DebateItOut is beginning to sound like all those "Progressive" politicians when they are talking about the phony global warming that was first introduced back in the early 1970's as global cooling and now they are calling it global climate change – which means that they had no idea what they were talking about at first and they still have no idea what they are talking about – they just think it sounds cool. =/
Still don't have any idea how such a plan would be implemented, much less continued, without the spending of way too much money we don't have, nor what, exactly, the purpose for such a censor would be.
Still haven't heard any compelling reason for this…
.. or for why it keeps coming up.
If there's really that much that is supposedly offensive content out there for you sensitive people that it has to be censored rather than ignored, then I'm shocked that you have a website which requires people to participate and interact with each other.
If you want internet censorship I suggest addblockplus and noScript (both excellent firefox add-ons). There, now you've self censored the internet. More piracy, porn, and pop-ups for everyone else.
