Absolutely. The UN has every right to do so.
As long as, for once, the USA can stay out of it. If the UN wants to send NATO forces and not AMERICAN soldiers fine. But man, for the love of God can we please not get ourselves involved with other peoples problems again!?!
I completely agree with you. However, I just can't see it as being realistic.
I know…. but the idea of storming into another country where the residents probably don't want us messing around. Declaring a war or police action on another recognized government it's distasteful to me now….. And I was in favor of invading Iraq initially, I bought the whole story of the Brits telling us there were WMDs and we were going in there to get them, and we're going to stop Saddam…. ugh… thats all I can say about it now. And it's too late to just stop and pull out of Iraq, unless we want to leave the place a smoking wreck, a gaping wound that will hate us forever… and we want to do this AGAIN? Like for fun, because we didn't get enough laughs the first time?
You are completely right with this one. There was never a War Against Terror, it is a joke. There were no weapons of mass destruction, all we did was round up hundreds of farmers.
We never should have gone into Afghanistan and Iraq. Now basically everyone will be leaving Afghanistan, upon which it will completely fall.
No it does NOT have "rights" to intervene ANYWHERE! By the UN charter, United Nations can ONLY go where it is INVITED!
And when will people understand that there is no such thing as a war "crime" because in and of itself war IS a crime! :@
The United States is the leading power, and we get things done so that's not going to happen.
First of all papdawg, please do not insult me saying that I think the death of 3,000 people in my own city was a joke. I'm also not mentioning the fact that my father was in the World Trade Center that day mere floors from the impact zone of the first plane.
I lost people I knew. Luckily my father was not one of them. After that, I wanted to invade wherever and kill who was responsible just like everyone else. However, after 8 years, enough is enough.
We keep losing soldiers everyday and we have seen no progress. You cannot fight a war like this against these type of people.
I'm also not trying to insult anyone's intelligence about Bush, nor the British. I actually voted for Bush. However, if you mean to tell me his plans in the War on Terror were correct, then that is truly a joke.
Can you even name one good thing that has come about from this War?
I don't know if that last statement you wrote was for Sal or for me but noone said anything about 9/11 being a joke. And I'm also not blaming Bush or the British for the war. I certainly believed everything I was told(which was the point I was making) and now feel bad about how gung-ho I was about us going into Iraq.
Sal,
Do you mean to tell me that the three thousand innocent people who died on 9/11/2001 was a "JOKE"!?!
You REALLY need to explain that statement!
And do NOT insult anyone's intelligence by blaming it all on President Bush or the British!
Ohh, I know the answer to that one Sal, maybe a good thing that came out of the war was no more American bodies lying dead in the streets.
Okay guys . . . Time to get an education from the old fart who fought the same kind of cowards like these Islamic terrorists way back in the late 1960's. Back then they were called the Communist insurgents in South Viet Nam.
Just like your fathers and grandfathers did to us you want to do to the brave young men and women who are protecting your right to live and worship(or not worship) in any religion you choose. You essentially want to turn coward (just like Barack Hussein Obama) and abandon those who fight for you. What you are saying is that it was perfectly okay for Islamic terrorists to come over here and murder three thousand innocent people any time they feel like it.
The mistake that was made in Viet Nam is the same mistake that you want us to make now. The war has gone on long enough and it is time to quit, right? Who cares if terrorists are still out there, who cares if they come over here and kill like that nutcase did at Fort Hood, because you have turned into cowardly little mice and it is time to quit.
I want you fools to ask any Vietnamese who managed to escape and somehow stayed in contact with relatives who stayed behind and find out what those nice wonderful Communists did to those who opposed them.
Hitler's Holocaust pales in comparison. Millions were tortured and slaughtered, Millions who would have had a chance at freedom if we Americans would have just stuck around long enough to finish the job. But no, people like Jane Fonda and her ilk demanded that we leave the nice and peaceful Communists alone and let them do their own thing.
Now you want to turn tail and leave the Afghanis and Iraqis to the likes of the Taliban and Islamic religious fanatics after we gave them a taste of freedom.
Just like the cowardly democrats in congress who are now trying to whine about they think they were lied to by the CIA and coerced into voting for war when they really didn't want to, all you want to say is that we have been fighting against terrorism for way too long, so it is time to give up and quit.
That is a pathetic excuse if I have ever heard one!
Just my not-so-humble opinion! :@
wow papadawg hold it here. You're telling a story and noone even gave you a cue to make it up. Settle down now. I never said anything about 9/11 being ok. Furthermore I NEVER said that we should up and leave Iraq. I have studied history and I know what happened in Vietnam when we arbitrarily pulled out. I know how the soldiers/airmen/sailors who fought in that war were treated when they came home! and frankly sir, how dare you accuse me of acting the same way. You don't know me or my motivations. I served in the United States Navy, I was a serviceman, I know just as well as you do that 95% of the soldiers in this country joined to protect their nation, and provide a life for their families.
Furthermore, I NEVER said anything about us making the same mistake in Vietnam, if you actually read my posts instead of just jumping down my throat and assuming I had no grasp of my countries history, you would see that I'm totally opposed to just leaving Iraq. It would damn the people to chaos in their government, and the country would fall almost immediately after we leave.
And yes I know Vietnamese who escaped and are thankful to live here, I know NORTH vietnamese who escaped because they saw how terrible their government was.
And yes, I've been to Germany, and I've seen the death camps!
So don;t you dare call me a coward, or a fool. I see as clearly as you do and agree with you on the subject of this current war. Maybe if you'd read a few of my posts you'd understand that. But right now I think you're just a self important blowhard who wants to mention Vietnam every chance he gets and tell everyone they're wrong because you fought over there.
So there's MY not so humble opinion.
and yeah, I f*&%ing hate Jane Fonda too!
