It's actually good. Let them discriminate. 99% of the terror threats against the United States are the Muslims. Due to that, they should be random-searched. I have no sympathy at all.

I forgot the proper term for it, since I learned it last semester, but I know what you're talking about. They are being selective.

Beautiful quote. They can random search me wherever I go, I don't care. This is what protects American citizens.

If they go after the "shady characters" those are not "random searches".

Well, sometimes people are so clever to come up with ways to actually sneak stuff in through the system, so what they on the airlines, the last time I checked, they pretty much just search anyone they have a bad feeling about.

I'm sure we both know that our gut-instinct seems to always be correct.

I commute in New York City, and there are random searches all the time on the trains. They go after the shady characters.

Several questions:

What do random checks actually seek to prevent or rather what is their purpose?
(I'm guessing something having to do with preventing hijackings or bombs)
And conversely, what do they actually prevent? For example, when random tests are conducted how effective is our system is at this purported task of detecting and intercepting bombs and possible weapons?

Third question: What is the cost of conducting random searches both for paying someone to conduct security and the extra time and hassle on airline passengers?

Sorry folks, but I refuse to give up my freedom in the name of false security.

These poorly trained - if they are trained at all - DHS airport people are the biggest joke of all. nothing but a waste of taxpayors money.

We need REAL security trained people there - JUST LIKE THE ISREALI'S HAVE DONE IT!

Yea. We have to put all racial profile allegations aside and take every step we can take in order to protect the rest of us. Let certain races cry, but keep the random checks intact.
