Agreed Sal, how can you presume to apply the death penalty on someone for what cannot be classified as a crime.omosexual relationship/sodomy I assume we are talking mainly about people engaging in homosexual relationships/sodomy. The point I'd like to make is that you'd ideally have to build a case upon which you prove there is some harm being done. i.e. murder/rape treason against ones country, etc etc. In the case of homosexuals, they aren't really hurting anyone or anything for that matter. How can you sentence somone to death for a crime that doesn't endanger a person, sell-out your country, take rights from another individual.
Like it or not, you shouldn't be able to kill a human because they are gay.
Its their gays, they can kill them if they want!
What gives us the right to dictate the laws of other sovereign nations?
How would you like it if, say, Saudi Arabia told you that you had to kill your sister because she does not wear a Burga?

ugh always calling people liberals. This isn't a debate about AMERICA imposing their laws or dictating laws to another country. Its a debate regarding the value of human life. Sometimes Gunny Sgt you make everything about liberals and conservatives.
Can't you even admit that the value of human life should be held in higher regard than sexual orientation? Thats not liberal, its ethical!

It ain't about the value of human life, it is about the question of national sovereignty.
No one has the right to dictate to a sovereign nation as to what their laws should entail.
Unfortunately all you can see is that they shouldn't be killing homosexuals, and that is your personal opinion -(as far as your liberal mind will let you have a personal opinion, not a put down but just fact)- and we all are entitled to our personal opinions . . . that is why I always end my posts with that statement.

Ah, the whole State's rights over Individual rights argument. Were this debate, "Should our countries put pressure on Uganda regarding their stance on homosexuality?" then I'd agree with you, but I interpret this question to mean whether we personally approve of a death penalty in Uganda for being a homosexual. And on that issue I am opposed.
No you miss MY point pdawg…. the whole topic is whether or not they should be killing homosexuals, there is no part of the topic that reflects national sovereignty.
Being ethical is not being liberal. Scientists and engineers around the world take oaths of ethics regarding the work they do jus tthe same way that doctors do.
Furthermore, scientists tend to be the most openminded people you can talk to. We have to be, to accept and further new theories and technologies requires an open mind to change.
However, labelling all hoomosexuals as sinful sexual deviants is a closeminded non-progressive stance. So my automatic reaction to your comment about closed mindedness is to inquire if you realize that you are the close minded individual.

I'm a registered republican, I'm a engineer working at a military subcontractor. I send equipment to our soldiers every day to support their efforts. I say again papadawg. I have my opinions, and I am not afraid to state them and stand by them.
It is my opinion that we, nor anyone else on this planet, have the right to dictate to any sovereign nation – and wether you like it or not, Uganda IS a sovereign nation – what their internal laws should be nor what the punishment for breaking those laws should be . . . No matter how much we may disagree with their laws or punishments.
I do not recall, nor can I find any post that I made here, that specifically states that I believe LordTiberivs is a communist or a liberal.
I have made the general statement that Liberals are closed minded, and that you seem to have that mind-set. Sooo, if you do not want to be lumped in with the Liberals, then stop sounding like one.
As far as political affiliations are concerned, I was a registered Democrat for a very long time. I changed my affiliation when the Democrats started sounding like the Communists. I was also a registered Republican for a very long time until I noticed that most of them were RINO (Republican In Name Only). I now just call myself an Independent Conservative – Meaning that I will vote for the candidate that most meets my expectations and just add a write in of "none of the above" when there is no one on the ticket that I deem worthy of my vote.
FYI – Do some research and look up the "Political Progressive Movement", You just might get an eye opener.

We're not debating over whether Americans should go in there and tell them. This is a debate about whether they should have that law or not. Nobody ever said anything about telling them ANYTHING.

I think that having such a policy is wrong, and I also think the Ugandans should fight it if it is in fact the current policy for Uganda. It is a silly policy that does nothing besides give people yet more reason to fear their government.
