Why do you want a new one? The currant one was set up to accomodate any changes that may be necessary as time goes on.
There is absolutely no need for a "new" constitution – unless you advocate the overthrow of our currant form of government .
That is, unless you are advocating the overthrow of our currant form of governance. Are you advocating an overthrow of our government?
Just asking. B)
Agreed pdawg, the constitution of the united states is a living document, and as such is capable of changing with the social evolution of America. That is the true beauty of our constitution.
Idk I'm not liking the one that we have now.
The one we have is fine. It is designed to accomodate the needs of any era, and the system of government it lays out is as perfect as man can make it.
Why don't you like it?
Yeah it was made to be adapting to the current era.
If the Constitution is a living document, then it implies that at one point it will have to die.
Constitution was not designed to accommodate the needs of any era, it was designed for the type of nation US was at the time. People need to stop treating it as a great symbol of America. It's just a political document.
We need to limit lobbyist influence in the Constitution. But since they basically write our laws, I doubt that that will happen.
Yea but it's not easy to change.
Well it's not a human, but living means that it's not just going to sit still, but will change according to the situation at hand, by amending it.
The constitution is fine the way it is. We have a good system that requires a certain number of votes to go through the house and the senate for an amendment to happen.
The constitution doesn't need to be rewritten. Simply amend it.
Why should it be easy to cede more rights to the government from the governed?
The US constitution is at the federal level. It shouldn’t touch our lives. the federal constitution was designed for a small workload. when it got too much, it couldn’t handle it.
If want a different political structure, do it at the state level. It would be easier to garner support. And if some people don’t like the government and the laws, they can leave.
I would suggest amendments that would limit terms and make more restrictions to prevent any of this rampant corruption and centralization to happen
Senate term limits would be an excellant start. Automatic right to citizenship vie birth only if both parents are US citizens at time of birth. Right to arms incuding all artillary under 1 megaton. Illegal to monitor internet activity under any circumstances (the govt currenty monitors everything, patriot act is still in effect) Homeland security cia fbi and nsa combined into one entity. There are too many ideas to discuss here. The govt does not have to be overthrown for a new constitution to be adopted int can be done civil and cooperativly. We own the govt the govt does not own us.
