It regulates the worlds population. And gives power to new and maybe better people. It also drives our history classes.

War is something that can be avoided only if everyone saw it as a waste of life. If no one was willing to put their life in another man's/woman's hands and realized the value of human life then we would live in peace.

On another note- the only way we can go to war is with the permission of congress. Our Government has not had permission to go to war since WWII. With this new war we allowed the establishment of what is called congressional resolution which means that the President can invade any country that may be involved with terrorist activities. This does not mean that he got the approval that is required by the Constitution-our law of the land- to go to war. What this means is everyone is standing behind our government to break the Constitution.

During WWI and WWII everyone agreed that going to war was just, right, and needed to be done; however the President had to wait for the approval of congress which is the reason we took so long to enter them. Some may argue that this is a waste of time but is breaking the Constitution really justify the ends? This practice has not been done since WWII and every war waged since then has been illegal whether they were fought for right or wrong reasons.

We all have been sitting ideally by allowing our government to do as it pleases. We do need war right now, because when you have power you will not give it up, history has proven that. The question's to be asked are who do we fight, how do we wage it, and can it be won peacefully? I hope so.

Until everyone realizes that war is not necessary, governments rule for the people and not for themselves, and we all can sit down have intellectual compromises with open minds accepting that everyone is an individual with different standards, views, and morals we will have war.

you're right but we should be using smarter tactics, more drones less troops among other things lest this turn into another Vietnam where we could've easily made nukes into earthquake bombs and collapsed countless systems without putting a single soldier down a hole.

saying war is pointless, fruitless, and evil is like saying the same of wildfires… they are both destructive and can eradicate beautiful things and hurt & kill the innocent but the forest must eventually burn so the soil stays fertile. but also like wildfires war isn't always good, perhaps there was no need or there was an arsonist, but that doesn't change the fact that until all of humanities flaws are eradicated war will be necessary.
civil wars overthrow tyrants and other forms of oppression
world war 1 caused more harm than good ( arsonist = assassination if you aren't following the analogy)
world war 2 crushed the Nazi's, caused damage to the Soviets, and removed Japanese oppression from Asia.
some more recent wars like Korea, Iraq, and Iraq 2 have been about protecting other nations from invasion.
vietnam too was about giving aid, however it was handled poorly, just because a war is lost doesn't make it evil.

besides even if you are right that war is almost always an evil destruction of life… what about Hitler?
we tried your 'diplomacy' and 'appeasement' and all the rest… hitler didn't stop. war wasn't prevented. the holocaust still happened. what if we didn't fight back? in the name of preventing such evil as war? well then Europe and the rest of the world would be under Nazi control, Hitler's legacy living on and causing more death in the form of genocide than would have by the war itself. Hitler was a madman. he wasn't and isn't the only one.
Muslim extremists-not all Muslims are bad but that doesn't bring the towers back
Stalin-if not for the US we'd be hailing red flags
Napoleon- not all that 'evil' but it's all the same
Mao-yes he was planning invasions of other countries
and many others who were just in charge of too small of countries to be of any threat

please prove me wrong, i wish we didn't need war but we do.

I’m sorry Jared, maybe I assumed too much. Muslims believe in a “holy war” called the jihad, in which they must take over the world in Allah’s name. This is in the Koran, its not a matter of sitting down and discussing it. Americans have attempted with “apparent success” with the same muslim leaders preaching the same anti-american propaganda a week later.

You can’t reason with them, there sole task is to take down the “infidel”.

Therefore American soldiers msut be sent to defend the Unted States from numerous terrorist attacks. Saving lives of Americans everywhere, possibly yours.

P.S not all muslums are extremists, i am merely speaking about the radical ones.

You tell it how it shouldn't be. You shouldn't have to send American soldiers out to be murdered to bring peace. There's a solution to every problem, without violence included. War is the easy-way-out.

war is as natural as peace, if you want something uhh for example freedom (sound familiar) you have to stand up and take it. But everyone except jared seems to understand this. This view is rather naive as it assumes that everyone is perfect and disgreements don’t happen. Unfortunately this is not this case, ironically this is the same mindset that communism was based upon.
