It will continue to deteriorate and many will profit from it's rebuilding.
1) "happen to"? Because of? Disasters? Rise of China/India? Government instability?
2) Over what time frame are we talking?
So far as I can tell Japan hasn't abandoned it's monetary policy "target" of 2% deflation, which it's hit almost every year over the last decade. So it will continue to do more or less what it has done over the last decade.
Since, as of this day, Japan is the one and only country to have endured nuclear warfare from which it has recovered in a most remarkable way, it will continue to prosper far into the future.
Unlike the westerners, the Japanese have learned to recover and even prosper from their mistakes.
Things will be a bit shaky at first. Then the market will get flooded with rising costs. This will lead to some market meltdowns, which will be localized to a few areas, but last for years and radiate outward.
I think that Japan will go through this phase of being "reborn". Do you know of the fire that happened in britian? The King wanted to rebuild that part of the city that was destroied by the fire and wanted to make it better then it was before. Yeah i think Japan will rebuild and become more beautiful then it was and combine nature and modern into one thing with the cities. Japan can use this to their advantage and rebuild cities and towns into great masterpieces.
