I'm enjoying the 65 number.
60.
I retired at 62. However, what ever age you wish to retire at should be up to you to work for to achieve enough savings and investment returns in order to retire at that age.
Airline pilots have a mandatory retirement age of 65. Cops retire when their blood pressure stays at patent over pending.
When I was a kid, senior discount age was 50, by the time I was 25 it was up to 55. When I was 45 they moved it to 60. When I reached age 60 they had moved the senior discount age to 65! I hear talk of making it age 70 now that I am pushing that age.
Would somebody PLEASE tell those who set that age to pick on someone younger than me, because I just want my darn discount before I croak! :p
The retirement add will have to go up because people are living too long and there are not enough taxpayers to support them. If we made the retirement age comparable to what it was when social security was enacted then it would have to be in the mid seventies. This is because the original age for social security was at or near the expected life span when brought into existence.
