Caracas, Venezuela with a Murder rate of 130 per 100,000 residents
The city’s official homicide statistics likely fall short of the mark because they omit prison-related murders as well as deaths that the state never gets around to properly “categorizing.” The numbers also don’t count those who died while “resisting arrest,” suggesting that Caracas’s cops—already known for their brutality against student protesters—might be cooking the books. Some speculate that its murder rate is closer to 160 per 100,000.
New York, New York…………….bada ba ba ba I'm lovin' it.
TIE: Paris and London
The greatest city? It would have to be London! But then I would say that as I was brought up there!
It has been said that if you haven't been to London then you haven't lived. That may be a tad exaggerated but I see where that comes from. Spend a day riding the Tube and you'll never look back, though if you see the cost of living you'll probably wish you could!
I have been to Paris, Moscow, London, Tel Aviv, Kuala Lampur, Tokyo, and many , many others. Each for a short day or even two.
The one city that stands out in my mind is one that has returned from total and instantaneous destruction to be one of the most beautiful cities I have ever seen, and despite being literally flattened in a millisecond shortly before the end of WW2 itspeople are some of the nicest and polite people I have ever met.
That city?
Hiroshima, Japan.
If you ever get a chance I highly recommend that you visit Peace Park and talk to the people who live there.
Just my not-so-humble opinion.
Man, what's with all these cute, little cities being named? New York is the greatest city in the world. That one street, Wall Street, which I worked for, controls the entire world, and that's the truth.
New York City is the greatest city in the world.
Cardiff
No New York?
Yea Zack!
New York or London. Its pretty much a tie.
I have been too many cities. Each one had its own quaint nuances. If I had to pick one I would have to say Tokyo. I make no claims about “greatest city in the world” I'm not that opinionated but Tokyo had a certain uniqueness that sets it high on my list of places to frequent. There something as simple as a stroll down an unfamiliar street seemingly sends you back in time. The noises of the city seam to fade as you approach a Shinto temple. The faint sounds of monks chanting and the breeze between the bamboo can be heard. Almost like an era long past is calling out. Walk a few more blocks and there you are in front of a bustling shopping mall. Then there are the vending machines in Tokyo. With some of the coolest /weirdest things you could want, didn’t want or even know could be bought from a vending machine. Tokyo is eclectic blend of culture and technology. From one extreme to another and everything in-between it’s a definite must see for any jetsetter.
Every city has something in it that makes people think that its the greatest city in the world. I live in Austin Texas and its an amazing city because they hold monthly events, like marathons or rock concerts. On New years eve this guy builds a huge wooden grandfather clock that acctually works and it gets burned at exactly midnight. Austin has alot of different areas around it for hiking and canoeing. San Antonio has the Alamo and the River walk which has resteraunts on it. And Dallas is very big. Its said that the three cities are going to get so big one day that their suburbs are going to connect. Manhattan has Broadway right? And Liberty island. Las Vegas Nevada, Singapore, Tokyo, San Diego, LA, The capital of Hawaii! There are so many cities!
Isnt it true that Hiroshima is still going through Nuclear fallout?
