Must be something in the water.
Islam.
The area is full of idiots that have bought into the lie that is the cult of Islam.
I, for one, think that this planet would look really pretty from space if all that sand over there got turned into glass.
Yep, that is what happens to sand when you set off a nuke on it . . . . . B)
Satan’s Stronghold.

How is it supposed to be stable? An area with minimally developed social state institutions (other than Turkey and Iran), governed instead by corrupt autocracies supported by other non-regional powerful states, and basically reliant on one export good?
Sounds a lot like Central America for most of its history.
Or most of Africa.
Its corruption. People in that area grow up around that stuff almost everyday and the children are kidnapped are taught to be that way. Plus the heat HAS to get to them one way or another.
Seems that the middle east has had a long history of unrest and violence. Why? Not entirely sure… But the history books speaks for itself, Middle East=DEATH…And now later in this last century America has become the world police. Nato is a joke but/and everyone love to hate America. Who else is going to do it? The civilians? Please. Seems to me that the middle east is always going to be trouble and now America’s government is always going to stick there nose wherever the oil flow is…… Hoping for better days.
There are alot of dictators in the middle east. Dubai is on the right track though, did you know that the citizens of Dubai dont have to pay the electricity bill? Thats one of the things that wont contribute to revolt and rebeling. New residents and the royal family of Dubai pay for it. The citizens of Dubai really like there leaders and the leaders like the citizens. If the American government could do that im sure we would be happier…but they cant and do you know why? Because this country is Trillions of dollars in debt and its growing by the billions everyday. Theres a sign in time square that shows how much the debt is growing everyday. Did you know that it had to be replaced at one time because the debt number became to big for the screen?
FYI, Dubai partially defaulted on its debts last year. It cannot afford to do ridiculous things like that either.
Also FYI: if a government pays for energy consumption by citizens, do you think those citizens would take seriously caring about things like energy conservation or what kind of energy was being generated? The answer is definitely no. This is an idiotic idea even if it pacifies a population ruled by a distant and obscenely rich emir. There are all manner of things that the government could do which far more effectively demonstrate concern for the plight of its citizens without introducing effective market control over any products or services and all the attending price and resource distortions therein. Some of them occasionally even have real impact on people's lives, shocking though that might be that it be more important to have real effects rather than symbolic ones.
Honestly Imperialism and WW2 have alot to blame, Europeans took these countries over and drained them of resources. then they left them with absolutley no government after they couldnt afford to take care of them any more. than after world war two the U.N placed and displaced man citezens that do not belong and do not get along in a small area. pluss its hot and sandy. that would upset me too.
