Ubuntu is headquartered in the Netherlands, NOT the U.S., therefore it comes under a different set of exchange laws. Also, UBUNTU is a LINUX based O/S and LINUX is F-R-E-E as it has been on the public domain since 1995. Under International Law, should Apple or Microsoft purchase the parent company of UBUNTU they could never charge any money for it and all of the add-ons are from different vendors so that would be free also and they could never block them like they do now in the U.S. for other vendors to Apple and Microsoft products.

I think, (don't quote me on this) that there was a U.S. Supreme Court ruling (about 1998 or so) that gave notice that no one could charge anything for a LINUX based O/S as it is in the public domain.

This is a good thing and no joke!

I use UBUNTU for one of my computers. It's very good and very fast. It loads in less than a minute. No crap, you know?

However, it's a joke right now. Apple and Microsoft don't see them as a threat. Once both of them quit fighting with each other, all they have to do is own the owner of UBUNTU by handing him a big fat check, and he will abide. Then it's a complete monopoly.

I think so. Apple is just killing them on developing products, and they are pushing their operating software along with it.
